Deep and Crisp and Even (1981)Peter Turnbull would later concentrate on a pair of detectives but in this first of his "P Division" mysteries he offers up a satisfying police procedural that's kind of a Glaswegian 87th Precinct novel. He juggles a fairly sizable cast of characters as they investigate a serial killer who's terrorizing the town in the midst of a bout of snowy weather. It's a capable first effort and, though new to me, the series is thirty years old now and has even been featured on British radio. I look forward to catching up.
