Shane Wyatt may not be the last cowboy, but his music--all 11 songs here are self-written--fits comfortably in the tradition of country cowboy and trucking tunes with a healthy dash of love songs thrown in. As an example of the latter, Just Married is a surprisingly nuanced song about the venerable institution, that may require more than one listening before you realize the subtle shift he effects in the words of the title. Meanwhile, the first single from the disc and the likeliest hit is Big Bad Dog, which manages to combine elements of Richard Matheson's Duel with Red Sovine's Phantom 309 for a rollickin' good time.
